Rev. Msgr. Peter V. Conley, Pastor

Msgr. Peter Conley was born and raised in the Readville section of Boston, the second of four children. Having attended the local parochial school and Boston Latin School, he studied for the priesthood at St. John Seminary in Brighton and the North American College in Rome where he was ordained on Dec. 18, 1963.

On returning to the Archdiocese, he was first assigned to St. Mary Parish, Melrose and then, in 1968, was asked to study for a doctorate in theology at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.D.

He subsequently taught at Emmanuel College and Pope John XXIII National Seminary in Weston, MA. (Father Rivard was his student!)

Msgr. Conley has held the following positions within the Archdiocese: Office of Ecumenical and Inter-faith Affairs, the Office of Communications, Cabinet Secretary for Community Relations, Rector of the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Editor of The Pilot and, since July 2000, pastor of St. Jude, Norfolk.

Rev. Robert Rivard, F.M.S.I., Asst. Priest

Rev. Robert Rivard was born and raised in Bristol, CT, one of six children. After graduating from the local high school, he entered the U. S. Air Force, serving for four years, with a specialty in radio operations.

After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company from 1956 until he entered the Sons of Mary, Health of the Sick – a religious order situated in Framingham – in 1965.

Father Rivard pursued his studies for the priesthood at Holy Apostle Seminary in Cromwell, CT and then at Pope John XXIII National Seminary in Weston where he was ordained a priest in 1977.

Assigned to the missions in South America, Father Rivard served the people of Lima, Peru for five years and then was sent west to Manila in the Philippine Islands for another five years.

Returning to Framingham, he worked in Prison Ministry and was chaplain to the Good Shepherd Sisters in Marlboro. In 1994, Father Rivard came to Norfolk to help our previous pastor, Father Robert Connor, when he was ill. Residing here at St. Jude Parish as Associate Pastor, Father Rivard continues his prison ministry and chaplaincy with the Sisters in Marlboro.
